Fiji will host United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau this week in a high-level visit aimed at strengthening strategic and economic ties between the two countries.

Deputy Secretary Landau will be in Fiji from today Friday, February 27 to Sunday, March 1, 2026, in what officials describe as a key opportunity to deepen collaboration and expand partnership pathways.

During his visit, he is expected to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and senior Government representatives. Discussions will focus on strengthening strategic cooperation, supporting Fiji’s national development priorities and reinforcing regional solidarity.

A major highlight of the visit will be the signing of the Compact Development Funding Agreement between the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Fiji. The MCC grant is aimed at unlocking private sector-led growth and expanding opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment and economic development.

Deputy Secretary Landau’s Fiji stop forms part of a broader Pacific mission from February 22 to March 2, 2026, which includes Hawaii, Tonga and Samoa.

The visit follows the Pacific Agenda: Investment, Security, and Shared Prosperity Summit held earlier this week at the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
