Fiji is considering an invitation from the United States to join an International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in Gaza, a move that could see Fijian troops deployed to one of the world’s most volatile conflict zones.
Minister for Defence Pio Tikoduadua confirmed the invitation had been formally extended but said no decision had been made, stressing that the safety and welfare of Fijian soldiers remained the Government’s priority.
“We recognise the invitation by the US Government, but it requires careful consideration, particularly regarding the welfare of our troops,” Tikoduadua said.
