Sanjay Goundar, 29, said being a marine engineer for the Royal New Zealand Navy was a unique and eye-opening experience
Mr Goundar said he was born in Nadi and attended Nadi Sangam Primary School before migrating to New Zealand with his family in 2001.
He continued his education in New Zealand and joined the Royal New Zealand Navy in 2014. He was also one of the 300 New Zealand Defence Force personnel onboard the HMNZS Canterbury which arrived in the country on March 18.
