Fiji’s Honorary Consul to the Cook Islands, Wayne Insimo, has urged Fijians living in the Cook Islands to think of their families back home.
His appeal follows the death of a Fijian hotel worker in a motorcycle accident earlier this month.
It is understood that the deceased was employed at a restaurant in Rarotonga.

Mr Insimo urged the Fijian community never to drink and drive, describing it as a “selfish act” that puts lives at risk and leaves families both overseas and at home in pain.
The fatal crash happened on April 1 along Parekura Road near the RTM store, with police responding to the scene at around 7.34pm. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed in a report by Cook Islands News that blood analysis of the deceased was alcohol‑related.
The accident marks the Cook Islands’ first road fatality of the year.
The victim’s family has declined to comment, and burial arrangements are expected to be confirmed in due course.
