CGM Freights has become the first Fijian freight company to establish its office in India and China within a year in 2023.

CGM Freights managing director Krishneel Kumar ventured his business in 2017 with an office set up in Suva.

No later, Mr Kumar set up branches in Nadi and Lautoka.

The Tavua-born lad tapped into the international market with New Zealand being first then Australia and now reaching out to the Asian region.

The 33-year-old said expanding his business in the Asian region became necessary given the increase in import and export from and within Fiji and around the world.

“One thing I live by is that trade and shipping will never stop,” Mr Kumar said.

“We were using agents and the cost was high, we were not able to facilitate the trade barriers due to time difference.”

“I travelled to Mumbai and opened the first Fiji owned freight office in Mumbai in 2023. We presented our logo and company to the Indian community, investors, traders and also our Fijian community.”

“If you want to trade or import from India, CGM is there to support and facilitate a trust binded between the shipper and the buyer.”

CGM Freight’s next aim is to continue expanding its business in the South Asian region and enter into other Pacific Islands countries with the aim to help clients facilitate shipping and reduce trade cost.

“Since the freight cost is high, people’s cost is increasing also.”

“At least we are creating our own office so we can control some of the cost so that people are able to retail the product.”

“The more you sell the more we’ll get our business in import and export as well and that is the basic concept that CGM stands for.”
