Fijian lawyer Ana Tuiketei makes history at The Hague

Fiji and the Pacific region have marked a historic milestone with the appointment of Fijian international lawyer Ana Tuiketei as president of the Defence Committee of the International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA).
Ms Tuiketei is the first Pacific Islander to hold this prestigious position at The Hague, where she will lead global efforts to protect fair trial rights and amplify the voice of defence lawyers before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Her appointment is a proud moment for Fiji, the Pacific, and women in law, reflecting the growing influence of Pacific professionals on the global stage.

In a press statement from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU), it states that beyond her legal achievements, Ms Tuiketei is also a trailblazer in sports governance. She serves as a World Rugby Educator for Judicial Officers, an Arbitrator for the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and an Independent Ethics Board member for the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA).
Ms Tuiketei is a World Rugby Women’s Executive Leadership Scholar and a mentor for the Oceania Rugby Women’s Leadership Programme. Locally, she continues to serve as a Judicial Officer for both the Fiji Rugby Union and Oceania Rugby.
