Fijian Man Dies In Raratonga From Injuries After Bike Crash

A 25-year-old Fijian citizen working in the Cook Islands died yesterday from injuries he sustained in a motorbike crash.

A 25-year-old Fijian citizen working in the Cook Islands died yesterday from injuries he sustained in a motorbike crash.

Thomas Riley was returning from a concert when the incident happened.

He died after succumbing to injuries he sustained.

His employer Rarotongan Beach Resort took to Facebook to announce his tragic passing.

They described him as a “happy, cheerful, loyal and intelligent young man who was a joy to be around.

“Thomas was an absolute star of our restaurant and bar team,” the resort spokesperson said.

“He loved his work, his guests, his friends and colleagues and most of all his loved ones and family.”

Cook Islands Police said they were alerted about the accident shortly after 2am yesterday and rushed to the scene of the accident near the Cook Islands Meteorological Office in Nikao.

“He was unresponsive and in critical condition from multiple injuries,” Cook Islands Police said.

“This afternoon (yesterday)Police were notified by the hospital that he had succumbed to his injuries.”

The late Mr Riley hails from Taveuni Island.
