Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will take his climate change battle to Australia next month.
That’s when he makes his first official visit there at the invitation of his counterpart Scott Morrison.
He made the announcement at the Sautalaga climate change event of the 50th Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Funafuti, Tuvalu yesterday.

“That visit will take place in an atmosphere of friendly engagement while I continue to press the case strongly on behalf of Pacific nations for the 1.5 degree target,” he said.
He said he was looking forward to seeing for himself the progress Australia has made in managing the challenges of transforming the energy sector and integrating renewable energy.
He said the case for coal as an energy sources could not continue to be made if every nation was to meet the net zero emission target by 2050 set by the United Nations Secretary-General and every other responsible leader of the climate struggle.
