Fijians across the country took advantage of the Christmas Day public holiday yesterday to enjoy a day out with their loved ones at picnic spots, parks and entertainment and amusement centres.
Families packed beaches around the country including the popular Suva Point and My Suva Picnic Park along the Nasese shoreline.
Many were not deterred by the hot sun as they frolicked in the sea, while others lazed around under picnic umbrellas and trees on the park.

Among them was Michael Lord of Rakiraki who was in Suva to celebrate Christmas with his family.
Mr Lord said the holiday provided the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy each other’s company before another year of school and work began.
“I came all the way from Rakiraki to celebrate Christmas with my daughter, Louisa and my dad, who is 94-years-old. After spending Christmas, we travelled to Nadi in the afternoon to spend a night there and came all the way from Nadi to Suva Point,” he said.
He said nothing beats family time.
