Fijians living in southern California are taking stock, contacting each other and keeping their families safe in the wake of the declaration of a state of emergency after two earthquakes rocked the area in two days.
A 6.4 magnitude tremor shook the region on Friday (Fiji Time) and the 7.1 magnitude quake hit northeast of the city of Ridgecrest in Southern California on Saturday (Fiji Time).

Meanwhile, a former Fiji Broadcasting Corporation commentator Dinesh Solanki, who is now a Los Angeles resident, said the earthquake was so powerful. “it did shake LA”.

Mrs Inocentes has been living in California for four years with her husband and three children.
According to the Los Angeles Times the 7.1 magnitude earthquake tipped buildings off their foundations and left residents on edge, but did not cause any fatalities or major injuries.
