FijiCare Insurance Limited has partnered with the Fiji Medical Association (FMA), pledging a $50,000 sponsorship for 2025 to support healthcare development and professional training in the country.

FijiCare Group chief operations officer, Krishika Narayan, said the sponsorship aimed to enhance healthcare services across Fiji by working closely with FMA.

“Healthcare is not merely a service, but a responsibility to ensure that every Fijian has access to quality care,” Ms Narayan said.

Highlighting the company’s impact, she noted that in 2024, FijiCare processed over 176,000 medical claims and disbursed more than $22 million to support its members.

FMA president, Dr Alipate Vakamocea, welcomed the financial boost, saying it would play a vital role in both current and future medical training.

“This sponsorship allows us to host major conferences that are essential for professional development,” Dr Vakamocea said.

He emphasised the importance of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for doctors nationwide, adding that these events help medical professionals gain necessary CPD points.

“We cannot lower the bar of medical training in Fiji,” he said.

In addition to professional growth, the sponsorship also strengthens the FMA’s public health outreach efforts.

Dr Vakamocea highlighted FMA’s role in raising awareness about national health concerns such as HIV and the ongoing dengue outbreak.

“This partnership enables us to inform and educate the public on pressing health matters, which is only possible through strong public-private collaboration.”

Dr Vakamocea expressed gratitude to FijiCare and its subsidiaries, saying their support will help sustain vital training and awareness initiatives that benefit healthcare professionals and communities across the country.
