A Nausori man who is facing multiple criminal offences has been remanded in cus­tody by the High Court in Suva.

Iliesa Cuanilawa is charged with two counts of rape, one count each of criminal intimidation, of bur­glary and of aggravated robbery.

He appeared before the Judge Justice Daniel Goundar.

For the rape charges, it is alleged that Cuanilawa on February 27, 2019, at Nausori, raped the com­plainant on two occasions.

For the criminal intimidation charge, it is alleged that Cuanila­wa on February 27, 2019, at Nau­sori without lawful excuse threat­ened the complainant with injury to her three-year-old son with a kitchen knife with intent to cause alarm to the complainant.

For the offence of burglary, it is alleged that Cuanilawa on Febru­ary 27, 2019, at Nausori, entered into the dwelling house of the complainant as a trespasser with intent to commit theft.

For the offence of aggravated rob­bery, it is alleged that Cuanilawa on February 27, 2019, at Nausori, robbed the complainant of $1000 cash, one black Samsung mobile phone valued at $349, one black and silver Samsung mobile phone valued at $279, two gold chains valued at $600, one nine karat gold pendant valued at $1000, and four gold rings valued at $1000, all to the total value of $4228, and while committing robbery used a kitchen knife to threaten the com­plainant.

State Prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecu­tions Inia Rakaria sought further time to file information and dis­closures.

Justice Goundar said to the State Prosecutor to file information within seven days otherwise he would dismiss the charges.

The case was adjourned to May 6 for plea.
