A mother's plan to spend christmas with her two children at their village in Vitawa, Ra, has been cancelled after her house at Megania in Nadi was destroyed by fire on Saturday night.

A mother's plan to spend christmas with her two children at their village in Vitawa, Ra, has been cancelled after her house at Megania in Nadi was destroyed by fire on Saturday night.
Laisani Begg said her children and her sister’s children were in the house when the incident happened.
She is grateful that none of them were injured or even worse, died.

“I went to the shop with my sister and the children were at home with my husband. My youngest child was crying after me so my husband carried her and followed us.”
“It was not after a few minutes when we received a call that there was a fire at home. When we arrived home it was engulfed in flames. We were thankful that the kids were saved.”
Meanwhile, a neighbour who witnessed the incident said he was sitting outside his house when he saw a child running out from the house and another four-year-old carrying a one-year-old baby.
“The four-year-old saw the room was engulfed in flames, she went to the room where the baby was sleeping, carried her and ran outside. When we came near the house, the fire had spread to their living room. My wife tried to calm the two children because they were scared of what had happened,” the neighbour said.
Police have confirmed the fire started around 10pm on Saturday night.
