Fire Destroys Levuka Home

A fire that completely destroyed an abandoned home on Mission Hill in Levuka, Ovalau has left residents on the island shocked.
Eye witness Suliana Sandys, who lives close to the house that was destroyed, said the fire broke out at around 5am on Monday when she had just woken up.
Ms Sandys said the strong winds had caused the blaze to enter into her compound destroying a great deal of her flower garden.

“Luckily, my house was spared from the fire,” she said.
She said the wooden house that had been abandoned for some time was completely destroyed in the blaze that morning.
“We have got homes all around the house, but luckily we were spared from the fire.”
Police and National Fire Authority investigations are continuing to ascertain the cause of the fire.
