A Nasinu family will not be celebrating Diwali as they have initially planned.
This is after Shivneel Prakash and his family-of-six including a one-year-old baby lost their five-bedroom house to a fire yesterday at Namara settlement in Khalsa Road.
Mr Prakash said losing his home one week before Diwali was a shock.

He said the neighbours alerted them of the fire at about 5am.
“We were sleeping when the fire happened,” he said.
Mr Prakash said the family immediately vacated the house leaving all belongings behind. He was happy no one got injured.
“We were only determined to save our lives, especially my baby. We are extremely fortunate that we have relatives in our neighbourhood who are willing to help us with shelter for the time being,” Mr Prakash said.
His mother-in-law, Kiran Devi said, she could not stop crying seeing their home engulfed in flames.
“We were excited for Diwali, but now that we are homeless, we only hope that we are able to motivate each other and never lose hope,” she said.
Ms Devi said she slightly burnt her feet while rushing out of the house.
“We were more concerned about the baby’s safety first,” she said.
The National Fire Authority and the Fiji Police Force are investigating the incident.
