Fisher Women Learn To Build Boat During Workshop

Ten women from five provinces can now build fishing canoes after a workshop in partnership with Women in Fisheries Network and the United Nation Development Project (UNDP).

Ten women from five provinces can now build fishing canoes after a workshop in partnership with Women in Fisheries Network and the United Nation Development Project (UNDP).

Women in Fisheries Network recruited the women, the UNDP funded the materials, Nadave Centre for Appropriate Technology and Development (CATD) provided the facilities and Rob Denney designed the boat and taught the women.

“Last week we ran a five-day workshop for 10 village women to teach them how to build fishing canoes. Due to their exceptional work ethic, they completed and tested the boat in four days,” Mr Denney said.
