Five People Found Drinking Alcohol Fined

They were fined $200, which they are to pay within a month or face imprisonment for 20 days.

Three women and two men appeared before Magistrate Ropate Green charged with failure to comply with public order.

It is alleged that the group were drinking alcohol by the Suva Handicraft Centre behind the Post Fiji building in Suva.

Ilaitia Samareka, 41, Ilimo Tama, 29, Meresiana Boletawa, 33, Mere Lekutu, 33 and Marica Tawake, 31 pleaded guilty.

They were fined $200, which they are to pay within a month or face imprisonment for 20 days.

The group sought forgiveness from the court and were released on $200 bail bond each.

Their case has been adjourned to May 13 for review.
