When queried if the holders of the advertised positions were nearing the end of their contracts, PSC chair Luke Rokovada said that was not the case.
The Fiji Sun understands that some holders of the advertised positions still have two to three years to serve in their contract.
“When the Coalition Government came in last year, it wanted all PS positions to be advertised,” Mr Rokovada said.
“It was their mandate to advertise. This is the last lot. 15 have been filled, this is the last one.”
Mr Rokovada had assured them that they were eligible to reapply.
“I have spoken to all of them and their ministers and I have told them that they are more than welcome to re-apply for their positions or for other ministerial PS roles,” he said.
Meanwhile, when asked why the Ministry of Finance permanent secretary Shiri Gounder’s post was not advertised among other PS, Mr Rokovada said his contract would expire in November.
“PS Shiri Gounder’s contract will end in November but the ministry will soon work on formulating the National Budget so after that then we will process his portfolio,” Mr Rokovada said.
