Flying circus takes Fiji to NZ
VOU’s full-time Fijian artists will make history next year as the Fijian Flying Circus tours New Zealand, showcasing the growing career pathways in Fiji’s performing arts sector.

Full-time Fijian artists will showcase their talent on New Zealand stages next year, proving that performing arts can be a sustainable career path for local youth.
The Fijian Flying Circus by VOU will make history as it tours New Zealand for the first time, supported by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade through the Pacific Enabling Fund.
VOU Director Sachiko Soro said the partnership validates professional opportunities in Fiji's arts sector.

“Every single performer in the Fijian Flying Circus is a full-time artist who graduated from our accredited two-year diploma program through the Conservatorium of Dance,” Ms Soro said.
“This partnership for the New Zealand Tour shows our communities that there is a clear, sustainable career pathway in this crucial industry for our young people.”
New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji Charlotte Darlow announced the support at a press conference in Suva yesterday.
“I have had the pleasure of seeing this show with my family and I know New Zealand audiences are going to love it,” Ms Darlow said.
“It’s a pleasure to help bring this kind of Fijian creative excellence to stages in New Zealand.”
The circus will headline the Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival on February 27-28, 2026, following performances at the Wellington Fringe Festival from February 17-21, 2026.
VOU’s training includes technical roles like lighting, sound, costume design, and production management.
Ms Soro described the partnership as having “a big brother or big sister guiding us, encouraging us, and showing us what's possible.”
