FNU conducts awareness sessions for schools in Kadavu

The Fiji National University’s (FNU) Outreach Team conducted a High School Career Discovery Session for High School students in Kadava last month.

The team visited four schools in Kadavu, Richmond Methodist High School, Vunisea Secondary School, Ratu Nacagilevu Memorial School and Namalata Central School.

Vunisea Secondary School Assistant Principal, Atunaisa Kaitabu encouraged other schools and communities to invite FNU to conduct awareness programmes

Vunisea Secondary School is located in the midst of the Government station in Kadavu and has almost 382 students. The team engaged with the Year 11-13 students at the school providing them with the many opportunities available at the University.

Kaitabu said the team’s presentation at the school was very informative and would greatly benefit the student in making informed decisions towards their future.

“I am thankful for the information presented by the FNU team and this will help students in making informed decisions in their educational journey,” the Assistant Principal said.

“I also want to encourage other schools and communities to invite the FNU Team to visit them and conduct awareness programmes.”

Vunisea Secondary School Year 12 student, Jonacani Dukuca is thankful to FNU for visiting the school. Dukuca who hails from Naceva in Kadavu, is a Pure Arts student and hopes to join the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs in the future.

“I really enjoyed today’s session and am thankful for the Team’s visit and the information that was imparted to us,” he said.

Outreach Specialist, Torella Dominiko said schools in Kadavu were eager for more visits by the University and looked forward to the following year’s sessions.

“The schools were appreciative and thanked the teams for visiting the students and providing them with all relevant information which will assist them in deciding their study options and career pathways,” she said.

“The teachers also benefitted from these sessions and were also thankful to be able to access information they could use to upgrade their studies.”
