FNU lead’s Visit Boosts Students’ Morale in Nauru

Former Fiji National University (FNU) graduate Cherish Daburya looks forward to the future of the University in the Republic of Nauru.
Daburya is a Lecturer at the Training and Development, Ministry of Health in the Republic of Nauru. She holds a Diploma in Nursing, and Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery from FNU’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS).
While on duty travel to Nauru, FNU’s Acting Vice- Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba visited the local students undertaking a Certificate in Enrolled Nursing (Level 4) programme being facilitated by FNU’s School of Nursing lecturers in Nauru.

“It was great to have FNU’s Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba and her team visit us at the Nauru Health Professional Training Institute Division,” Daburya said.
“We have 20 students enrolled in FNU’s five-week-long short nursing course that is currently happening in the Republic of Nauru.
“This is a good step to a great relationship between FNU and the Ministry of Health in Nauru, especially for the local students because even though we went through COVID-19 in 2020, and we are finally here. This is a very good step for everyone, and this is seen as a sign of more to come!
“The programme had been in the pipeline for many years, and having the team come to the island and speak directly to the students face-to-face gave them a boost in their morale as this shows that that they matter to FNU!
