Former A-G Bid for Bail Variation Rejected
Magistrate Prasad also ruled that he was not deprived from any medical procedures as he was already on bail in the country and is free to get his medical treatment.

The bail variation application made by former Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was rejected.
Magistrate Yogesh Prasad who presided over the matter made this ruling at the Suva Magistrate Court yesterday.
Sayed-Khaiyum, facing one count of abuse of office after he was alleged to have signed a Deed of Variation and Addendum between the Government of Fiji and Saneem in 2022, had applied for a bail variation to travel to Singapore for his kidney review.

During his ruling, Magistrate Prasad acknowledged the supplementary affidavit from Dr Josese Turagava who said that although Fiji did not have a robotic system, there were qualified doctors in the country who could attend to his medical needs.
Magistrate Prasad did not find his motion to travel essential or pressing.
Magistrate Prasad also ruled that he was not deprived from any medical procedures as he was already on bail in the country and is free to get his medical treatment.
He also said that because he is charged with a serious offense, he is a flight risk.
Magistrate Prasad is adamant in having the substantive matter expedited and completed without unreasonable delay.
