9News also said police were yet to determine precisely how Mr Stewart died, but said he lived at the property with his son, Frederick Cameron Stewart and his partner, who saw the alleged incident unfold.
Frederick Cameron Stewart, 30, was charged with domestic violence murder.
The late Mr Stewart grew up at the FSC Company quarters compound in Lautoka with his siblings.
Their father Ted worked at the Lautoka Mill and the late Mr Stewart went on to work there as an apprentice and later a tradesman.
He migrated to Australia more than 20 years ago with his wife and children.
“There’s no doubt that it was a violent, confronting scene that presented itself,” Detective Inspector Chris Knight was reported as saying by 9News.
Police said the 60-year-old woman was not injured.
“I will say that she is an incredibly strong lady,” Inspector Knight said.
“She’s been spoken to by detectives for a couple of hours.”
Frederick Junior did not appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court yesterday, but his matter was heard.
It has been adjourned to next month, and there was no application for bail.
