Former Marist Student Takes Baton Of Honour, Most Outstanding Police Recruit

Former Marist Brothers High School deputy head boy Sakiusa Tagicakibau was awarded the Baton of Honour for being the most outstanding recruit in the second passing out for the Fiji Police Force this year.

He paid tribute to his father Mosese Tagicakibau. who had passed away and was not available to make the parade on Friday.

The young man was flanked by his young family, wife Ruth who is two weeks away from giving birth and his one-year-old son also named Mosese.

“I had discussed joining the Police force with my father, he was not that keen but did not discourage me either,” he said.

“My uncle is a military officer and he had somewhat told me to pursue a career with the disciplined forces.”

Sakiusa’s wife, Ruth said she was happy and this was an opportune time as well.

She said she was ready to be a police officer’s wife from the time Sakiusa had been selected to be part of the recruit’s course.

“I know it is going to be hard, but as a wife I am ready to support my husband. I know this is not going to be easy but I am going to give my best,” she said.

The Commandants Book Prize was awarded to Marika Vaniqi while the Commissioner’s Book Prize for highest aggregate marks was awarded to Militoni Bokonabaselala.
