Former Post Fiji chief executive officer Anirudha Bansod will be sentenced by the Magistrate’s Court in Suva tomorrow.

He appeared before Resident Magistrate Talei Kean yesterday.

Bansod’s case was called at 9.30am and he was not present so a bench warrant was issued.

However, he then appeared with his counsel Davenesh Sharma and the bench warrant was cancelled.

Mr Sharma said his client had travelled from Lautoka.

The sentencing will be delivered at 10am.

Charge

Bansod, who was initially charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty causing a loss, had pleaded guilty after his charges were amended to only one count of abuse of office.

It was alleged that between August 1 and December 31, 2022, while being employed in the civil service as the CEO of Post Fiji Ltd, Bansod provided false confidentiality and Conflict of interest Declaration for the tender of the design, development, and implementation of the Post Fiji Mobile Application.
