Former Senator Josaia Gucake, Remembered As A Mentor, Role Model

Former senator Josaia Gucake is remembered as a mentor and role model to those who have known him.

Mr Gucake who served as a senator in the House of Representatives in the 1990s, died after a short illness.

He was the Executive Director Sales for the South Pacific Media Consultants in conjunction with the Pacific Broadcasting Services: Digital Satellite in Fiji before his demise.

He also served as a counsellor member of the Suva City Council (SCC).

His brother, Kelepi Gucake, said he was a mentor to those around him - especially his siblings - given the life he lived which was full of chasing dreams.

“He was our mentor during our upbringing. My brother was a role model to many of us because he lived an inspiring life."

"His advice was always for us to work hard in school and serve the lord faithfully."

“He has served his purpose here and has gone to be with his maker.”

Mr Gucake will be laid to rest on Wednesday.

He is survived by his wife, three children and four grandchildren.
