Former SODELPA MP Seeks Forgiveness

Former SODELPA Member of Parliament Salote Radrodro, while speaking on behalf of women prisoners, sought forgiveness from families, the vanua and church yesterday.
This was during the Masu Ga Ministry livestream of its evangelical programme on Facebook from the Women’s Corrections Centre at Korovou, Suva yesterday.
“I want to take this time to seek forgiveness from our families, the respective villages that we hail from, clan (mataqali), tribe (yavusa) we belong to, from everyone here, we hope we will be forgiven when released,” Ms Radrodro said.

“Forgiveness is the only key that will allow us to move closer to the Lord Jesus Christ.”
After being in prison for a year now, Radrodro said prison life for them was different because of the stigma that society had about their convictions.
“I believe all our families and society have a view of why we are incarcerated here in prison.
“We come here from different levels of society, families and different crimes we have committed, likewise our sentences are different in time.
“Some, a short span of time, others a long time,” she said.
“I’ve been here for a year and I have witnessed some of our mates here do not get visited here at all. It can be hurtful to see some of us don’t get this privilege.”
Radrodro said the programme was a sustainable one that would bring the much- needed change to them individually.
“This programme is the most sustainable one that will bring about the needed change that we individually need,” she said.
“This is the second time that this programme has been brought here and we thank you Madam Commissioner, Attorney-General and the director rehabilitation programme along with all those concerned for bringing this programme to us,” she said.
Radrodro was sentenced to three years imprisonment for giving false information to a public servant and of obtaining financial advantage.
The programme is part of rehabilitation efforts of the FCS.
