Four-Wheel Vehicle Rams Bus, 18 Injured

The Goundar Shipping bus travelling towards Ba lies on its side after colliding with a four-wheel drive vehicle along King’s Road in Vitogo, Lautoka on November 13, 2024.
Eighteen people were treated at the Lautoka Aspen Hospital after a bus they were traveling in collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle in Lautoka yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened around 2.45pm, along King’s Road, in Vitogo, Lautoka.
The four-wheel drive vehicle after pulling out of Vitogo Road collided with the Goundar Shipping bus traveling from Lautoka towards Ba, said police spokesperson Constable Wame Bautolu.

The bus was carrying passengers for Ellington Wharf to link with the 6pm inter-island vessel bound for Vanua Levu.

The driver of the 4-wheel drive vehicle was trapped inside; he was rescued by National Fire Authority officers.
The bus driver who resides at Saweni sustained serious injuries; he is now in a stable condition.
A family member Aarish Rahman and his dad, Hafiz Rahman stood outside the hospital comfort his uncle Abdul Khalik Rahman who was a passenger on the bus.
“The doctors said uncle will go through a computer tomography (CT) scan after four of his ribs were broken and he will be admitted,” he said.
When this edition went to press last night, heavy police presence was observed at the emergency area.
Investigation into the incident continues.
