Minister for Environment Mahendra Reddy has confirmed that his ministry has revoked land development licence for Freesoul Real Estate, which was undertaking development on Malolo Island.

Mr Reddy said they found that the developers had breached 22 out of their 50 conditions, hence the decision to revoke their licence.

The company could not be contacted for a response when this edition went to press.

This comes after the company faced court charges as well where it was charged with one count of undertaking unauthorised developments and one count of failure to comply with a prohibition notice under the Environment Management Act 2005.

This matter was called for first mention at the Nadi Magistrates Court in March, before Resident Magistrate Peni Dalituicama.

Freesoul Real Estate’s project officer, Saula Sovanivalu, had appeared on behalf of the company.

The State served the disclosures and sought time to serve further disclosures. The matter has been adjourned to April 26.
