After a four-year break to raise her two children, Maria Adimainatuvu was on cloud nine at the University of the South Pacific graduation yesterday.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Ms Adimainatuvu proudly received her Bachelor of Commerce in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Her dream of working in the tourism industry is now beginning to take shape.

“Completing this degree has significantly boosted my self-esteem and given me a profound sense of accomplishment,” Ms Adimainatuvu said.

“It wasn’t an easy journey to be away from my studies for so long while taking care of my family, but it has also been very rewarding,” she said.

“There were many setbacks, but I persevered to provide a better future for my children.”

She believes her achievement has set a powerful platform for her children; the importance of education, perseverance, and self-improvement.

Navigating the demands of returning to school while managing family responsibilities has enhanced her problem-solving skills and adaptability.

Deeply rooted in her family values, Ms Adimainatuvu feels a heightened sense of pride and respect, fostering a supportive home environment.

Originally from Kaba Village in Tailevu, the 27-year-old believes that with strong support from peers, friends and family, nothing is stopping her from achieving more.

“Nothing is impossible, this is not going to be last graduation for me. I am going to pursue the next level.”
