The 30-year-old father has three children. His wife is also a nurse.
He said it was a painful moment to leave his family behind, but was living with great satisfaction by faithfully answering a call to help others.
His only wish for this Father’s Day is for Fijians to hold hands, practice safe COVID-19 precautions and get vaccinated.
“I have seen mothers, fathers and children die before my eyes due to coronavirus and it is real,” the emotional Mr Khan said.
“As a father and a head of a family it starts with us, everything starts from home.”
Mr Khan said he won’t be celebrating Father’s Day with his family this year, but he thanked them for their support.
“I would like to wish all fathers and frontliners, a Happy Father’s Day.”
Father’s Day will be celebrated on September 5.
