The Fijians Teachers Association (FTA) is gratified with 2023 year 13 cohorts after they achieved 90 per cent pass rate in their Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination (FY13CE).

The Ministry of Education revealed they recorded 90 per cent pass rate compared to 89 per cent in 2022.

About 7717 students sat for FY13CE last year.

FTA general secretary Paula Manumanunitoga said much of the hard yards were invested by the sacrifices of teachers and students.

“FTA is indeed happy and excited about the Year 13 results,” Mr Manumanunitoga said.

“We thank the teachers who took part in the education of these students and assisting them in achieving this result.”

Mr Manumanunitoga said majority of teachers had to go out of their way, offered their unpaid time for students after school hours just so they could spend extra time with their students on a particular subject.

He said the country needed to celebrate this achievement.

“We are indeed grateful for the teachers. Without the teachers it wouldn’t be possible.

“We show our appreciation to all parents, the whole of Fiji should be celebrating this achievement.”

Meanwhile, 30 days are given for students to recount their provincial results, of which $5 is for recount per subject and $25 for a remark.
