The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) have taken suggestions and are looking at possibly having staff with sign language interpretation skills for their branches nationwide. This is expected to cater for their deaf and customers with hearing impairment.

General Manager Members Services, Alipate Waqairiwai, said that a discussion process would soon take place with all their member forums now completed.

He said there was a team that was assigned to consider all the suggestions after which they decide on how best these changes could be accommodated and brought to the table for discussions with their executives.

He said part of their institution’s member responsibility was to create a friendly environment for their members, irrespective of physical abilities or disabilities.

“We had members who shared this need for interpreters in almost all our member’s forums,” he said.

Mr Waqairiwai encouraged disabled members who were technologically competent to use their online platform on their mobile phones or other devices to gain a better understanding and faster information on their services.

New Labasa branch manager soon

The FNPF Labasa branch would soon have a new manager taking up the responsibility.

Mr Waqairiwai said their current manager had served his term.

The selection of the new manager would be done in the next three months.

“With a new manager, we expect new changes to come as well to better our service delivery for our customers in Labasa,” he said.

Mr Waqairiwai refuted claims made by some members, who claimed that pensioners were being denied easy accessibility during their pension renewal process.
