GCC Is A 'Top Priority'

He said the first phase was to bring the GCC’s former members together.

The return and reinstatement of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC or Bose Levu Vakaturaga in iTaukei) is a ‘top priority’ for the new Government.

This was confirmed over the weekend by the newly-elected Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka.

Days after the election of his coalition government which is made up of The People’s Alliance (PA), the National Federation Party (NFP) and Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA), the former GCC chairman (1999-2001) is expected to be swift in restoring the chiefly body.
