GCC to Meet King Charles in England, PM reveals

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has confirmed that representatives of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) will soon travel to England for a planned dialogue with King Charles III.
The meeting is expected to further strengthen the historic ties between Fiji and the British monarchy.
Mr Rabuka made the announcement while speaking at the opening of the Macuata Provincial Council meeting in Nabouono Village in Udu today.

He referred to President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu’s recent visit to England, where he also met with the King.
“He held talks with King Charles on certain issues,” Mr Rabuka said.
He urged Macuata leaders to prepare agendas and discussion points ahead of the GCC delegation’s trip.
He said the engagement reflects the strong relationship between Fiji’s chiefly institutions and the British Crown.
