The Electoral Commission has officially declared the commencement of the campaign period for the next General Election, effective from today, May 25, 2026.

Under the Electoral Act 2014, the campaign period will end 48 hours before Election Day.

The Electoral Commission said the declaration was made in accordance with Section 109A(1) of the Electoral Act 2014.

The law states that the campaign period cannot begin earlier than 30 days before the completion of three years and six months from the date Parliament first sat following the last General Election.

The declaration comes as Fiji prepares for the next General Election, which must be held between August 7, 2026, and February 6, 2027.

The earliest possible Writ of Election may be issued from June 24, 2026.

The Electoral Commission has urged political parties, candidates, supporters, organisations and members of the public to conduct campaigns peacefully and lawfully.

“The Electoral Commission Republic of Fiji urges all political parties, candidates, supporters, organisations, and members of the public to campaign peacefully, truthfully, and in accordance with the law.”
