They are important for government stations also, minister adds.

The importance of providing services to our rural community was highlighted by the Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development, National Disaster Management and Meteorology Inia Seruiratu. This was during his visit to the Northern Division recently.

He said the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MOIT) had supplied two generators to provide power supply for rural communities in Bua and a key government station.

“Government has hired two generators from Suva which will be running for as long as they're required,” Mr Seruiratu said.

He said the generators were important because they would service part of the rural community in Bua, and a key government station.

“They depend on the generator for power supply, particularly the hospital in Bua.

“As minister responsible for rural development, I wanted to make sure that services are not affected and I acknowledge the work done by MOIT in providing the generators,” Mr Seruiratu said.
