Southern zone Raluve underdogs Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School Under-18 girls defeated giants Lomary Secondary side 15-12 with a penalty kick in extra time in one of the quarterfinals at Veiuto primary school grounds today.
Speaking to SUNsport, MGM coach Ema Sese thanked God for the fine weather and the win her team achieved today.
“We came in as David and we managed to beat the best Lomary as they were the team to beat. We were actually scared to come and play against them but the girls came out strong. We managed to beat Lomary, “Sese said.

Sese said as newcomers this season and to beat Lomary who was a semi-finalist last year was making history.
“Majority of the players are in the Year 13 and they have been determined to be history makers a well,” she said.
“We still have that feeling from the Cokes and rugby league; I told the girls that we can carry the momentum in the Raluve as well.”
Sese said the girls played their heart out before extra time as the points stood 12-all.
“We treated the game as final that was why we put the best players in the first lineup.
“We are going to go back to our preparation from Monday to Friday. It gets harder as we progress in the tournament as all the teams are the best and we’ll try to put in our best to get as close as we can to the trophy.”
