Drasa Seaside sugarcane mechanical harvester gang president Nirbhay Chand said more time was needed to allow sugarcane to mature in order to get more sugar content.

The Lautoka and the Labasa mills will begin sugarcane crushing on May 24 while the Rarawai Mill will start on June 6. Farmers in Lautoka and Labasa have been given until May 23 to harvest their sugarcane and June 5 for farmers in the Rarawai area.
