Golf Cart Accident On Private Island Kills One

A 28-year-old woman is dead and a man is in critical condition as a result of a vehicle accident on Laucala Island Resort on Friday evening.

According to a Police report, the deceased is Amelia Melania from Togo Village on Qamea Island.

It has been reported that Ledua Biudole was driving a golf cart with three other occupants, Ms Melania, Tokasa and Laisa Kotobalavu.

It is believed that Ms Melania was thrown out of the car and then the cart landed on top of her.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro in a statement said the driver was medically evacuated to the Nausori Hospital where he remains admitted.

The driver of the electric cart has been discharged from the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

The suspect is now resting at relative’s place and will be questioned by investigators once she has fully recovered.

Police investigations continue.
