Good Samaritans Help Soasoa Residents With Food Rations, Police Facilitate Process
Over the Easter long weekend, around 59 households received food assistance from the Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Committee, Titi’s Group of Companies, Seaqaqa Shopping Centre and Nazia Hire Services and Sawmilling.

Police officers manning the border control checkpoint in Soasoa, Labasa, have gone an extra mile to help residents receive their groceries on time.
Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said these officers were facilitating those who wanted to drop off groceries with their relatives in the northern confined area.
Over the Easter long weekend, around 59 households received food assistance from the Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Committee, Titi’s Group of Companies, Seaqaqa Shopping Centre and Nazia Hire Services and Sawmilling.

“So similarly, we are working with other stakeholders to ensure the residents’ needs are looked after, including essentials such as power and water supply,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.
He said Police had been monitoring the area since April 4 when the Government locked down a 240-square-metre portion of the Soasoa area, where the contact tracing for the first case in the North was done.
Meanwhile, the directors of Seaqaqa Shopping Centre, Hasim Khan and Ferin Khan, and the directors of Nazia Hire Services and Sawmilling Shaan Ali and Nazia Ali, prepared a total of 55 basic food relief packs for the residents.
They said this was part of their service to the community during the current health crisis.
The companies based outside Labasa Town wanted the people that they cared for them despite their geographic location.
