Government Assistance Timely for Naduri Family
‘Good education is key to many positive things, foremost it breaks away the shackles of poverty’

For mother, Melaia Qalobula, from Naduri, Macuata, education plays a vital role for a secured future for her children.
Overwhelmed with the Government’s $200 back-to-school assistance, Ms Qalobula, said her daughter, Mereseini Tokalau, was able to buy the necessary school items.
The Year 10 student at Nabala Secondary School was excited, ready to start the new academic year in two weeks.

“She is the youngest of my other children and I want her to succeed academically,” the mother-of-six said.
“Good education is key to many positive things, foremost it breaks away the shackles of poverty.
“There are a lot of opportunities out there, I am hopeful Mereseini will pursue her dream career and be successful.”
With the influx of school students being involved in drugs and other criminal activities, Ms Qalobula, said education would act as a barrier for Mereseini.
“I’m really happy and grateful that my daughter will continue her education this year,” she said.
The daughter was given an opportunity to choose her school items with a budget in mind.
“I have high expectations for Mereseini,” she said.
“Mereseini is the last of my children and I understand how important education is for her future”.
The soft-spoken mother said her heart was full of hope and optimism for her daughter’s future.
“I’m proud of all my children, but Mereseini has worked so hard, and I know she has a bright future ahead of her,” she added.
