Rajneel Kumar, a Government vehicle driver, has been remanded by Nadi Magistrate Peni Dalituicama.

Kumar appeared in court yesterday charged with four counts of failure to comply with orders by breaching curfew hours and failure to obey traffic direction when required to stop at the checkpoint at Martintar Nadi by a Police officer, namely Police Constable Wilisoni Malani.

He was also charged with dangerrous driving.

It is alleged that he had driven a motor vehicle on Queens Road at Martintar, Nadi in a manner which was dangerous to the public.

He was also charged with unlawful possession of controlled equipment.

The accused allegedly without lawful authority had in his possession-controlled equipment, namely smoking apparatus knowing that equipment is to be used in commission of an offence.

The alleged incident took place on December 30, 2020.

Kumar will reappear at the Magistrates court on January 8.
