Govt monitors Middle East tensions, urges citizens to stay calm
Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms consular support and communication with citizens in affected areas

The Government is closely monitoring escalating tensions in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade confirmed last night that no Fijian nationals have been reported directly affected by recent incidents in the region.
Fijians living and working in countries such as Qatar and other Gulf states are urged to remain calm and follow local government advisories.

The Ministry said it is maintaining regular communication with Fijian citizens and stands ready to provide consular assistance if required.
“We are in contact with our Missions and Honorary Consuls in the Middle East and reviewing contingency protocols to ensure the safety of our citizens,” a statement from the Ministry said.
Fijians in the region are advised to register with the nearest Fiji Mission if they have not done so and to keep family members informed of their wellbeing.
"To Fijians currently in the region, we urge you to remain calm, follow official advisories issued by host governments, maintain contact with family members where possible, and register with the nearest Fiji Mission if you have not already done so," the Ministry said.
Families in Fiji are assured that updates will be provided should the situation change.
The Government reiterated its call for restraint, dialogue, and peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with international law.
