The Ministry of Finance is working with the Ministry of Civil Service to look at civil servants pay increases in the upcoming 2024–2025 National Budget.
This was confirmed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad. He said there had been some steps taken last month, such as for nurses.
“I can confirm that we are working closely with the Ministry of Civil Service, and there are a number of proposals to look at as to how we can address the issue of pay increases for civil servants,” Mr Prasad said,

He said they were aware that civil servants had not received pay increases for a long time.

“The civil servants did not receive any pay cuts during the pandemic, unlike other organisations.”
He said they were looking at the pay review.
“I think the expectation is there that there will be a rise, but we have to look at the mechanics and whether we can have it through step movement or across the board,” he said.
