The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) has seized undeclared firearms and ammunition from a foreign-flagged yacht that arrived at the Savusavu Port this week.

Authorities confirmed that the yacht had submitted an advance notification of arrival, which was reviewed and flagged for potential risks. Following this assessment, FRCS maritime officers conducted a targeted inspection of the vessel.

The search uncovered two semi-automatic pistols, 30 CO₂ cartridges, and 1,138 pellets that had not been declared by the yacht’s skipper.

Under Fiji’s Arms and Ammunition Act, all firearms and ammunition are strictly regulated, and vessels in transit are required to declare such items in advance.

The case has been referred to the Fiji Police Force for further investigation.

In a statement, FRCS reminded all travellers — including yacht owners and sailors — to ensure full and accurate declarations when entering Fiji’s ports, warning that non-compliance will result in enforcement action.

FRCS said it remains committed to safeguarding Fiji’s borders and ensuring adherence to national laws and security protocols.
