Year 12 and Year 13 students are hyped to get back to school after six months of schools closure due to COVID-19.

Harsh Chand, a student of Savusavu Secondary School, said he was excited for the school to reopen on November 1.

“Being home during COVID period has been a challenge for not just me, but for majority of Year 12 and Year 13 student as they have to sit for their external examinations this year,” he said.

He said learning in school will be much better compared to virtual learning at home.

“In my opinion, I don’t find virtual learning that helpful as there are many distractions that hinders students from focusing on the classes,” Harsh said.

“But when it comes down to learning in school, I think learning in school is better as students concentrate harder as there’ll be less distractions.

“Face to face classes also ensures a better understanding and recollection of lesson contents and give class members a chance to bond with one another.”

He also said he was preparing himself well for the Year 13 certificate examination.

Preparing for school

“For preparation for external exams, I have been using the knowledge from the virtual classes we have been doing with our teachers,” he said.

He said he was happy that he will be able to meet his friends.

“Learning in an environment that you are used to is the best feeling. I kn0w that many students feel the same when it comes to learning in a classroom,” he said.
