Head Boy Hopes This is the First Step To Being A Pilot

Peni Raicula, son of a fisherman was surprised to be inducted as the Head boy of Tabia Sanatan Dharm Primary School in Labasa yes­terday.

“If a fisherman’s son can be the first in his family to be the Head boy, I be­lieve anyone can reach to any heights of achievement provided they have faith in God and this is what my father taught me.”

The 13-year-old of Tabia Village in La­basa said this opportunity was a door to his ambition of becoming a pilot.

“My dream is to travel around the world,” Peni said.

“Sometimes when I accompany my fa­ther, Eremasi Vakameau to catch fish, I imagine myself flying in the sky.

Many children laugh at my dream when I tell them but I believe nothing is impos­sible with God.”

“As the Head boy of the school I will en­courage students from Year One to Eight to work diligently and dream big,” the eldest of two siblings said.

Head girl, Tania Nath, 13, of Tabia, La­basa thanked the teachers for selecting her as the headgirl.

“There was a selection criteria and whichever student gathered the highest mark was chosen to be the head of the school,” the youngest of two siblings said.

“We have a student roll of 341 with 18 teachers and 24 students in kindergar­ten.

The chief guest was Fiji National Uni­versity Labasa campus education lectur­er Niranjan Lal.
