“Ever since both my parents passed on, I have never thought that one day I will be badged with such a position. Let alone, be the head girl,” Rede said.

Sacred Heart College head girl Ilisabeta Rede lost her mother when she was in Year Six. Two years later her father died. She’s an orphan.

Tears flowed freely during the prefect investiture on Friday because her parents were not there.

Rede, 19, is the youngest of 11 children.
