Ema Dyer is aiming to set a good example to her younger siblings. This comes after she was inducted as Pandit Vishnu Deo Memorial College’s head girl in Lautoka on Tuesday.

The-18-year-old is the oldest of four siblings and is hoping that her new posting will allow her to be a role model to them as she learns to take on new challenges in life.

Ema, an academically-driven student, is focused on emphasising discipline this year.

“It is actually a great privilege to be bestowed this responsibility and is the first time that I have been given a major role,” she said.

“I wasn’t even the deputy head girl last year, I was just the senior prefect, so this is an exciting journey for me.”

Time management has never been an issue for the youngster and she is ready to take on her new task.

“When I was small, my academics were on my mind and I had to balance it with sports, but since the school teachers approached me to become the head girl, I was happy and willing to take on that challenge,” she said.

Meanwhile, head boy, Nishant Rinay Kumar said he was grateful to his parents for their tremendous support.

“Being the head boy is a proud moment for me and my parents as well. In 2019, I was the junior deputy head boy and in 2020, I was the deputy head boy,” said the 18-year-old.

“I have received great support from my parents whom I am grateful for.”
